How to care for your buns this Easter

Freshly baked Hot Cross Buns are best enjoyed warm, soft and full of fruit and spice. Like most good bakery products, they don’t contain preservatives, so a little care goes a long way to keeping them at their best.

Here’s how we recommend storing and serving them.

Storing Your Buns

If you’re planning to enjoy your buns within a day or two, simply keep them in their bag at room temperature, somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight.

Because our buns are baked fresh daily, they’ll naturally start to firm up after a couple of days — which is exactly when they become perfect for toasting.

Toasting (Our Favourite Way)

Slice your bun in half and pop it in the toaster until lightly golden. Toasting helps bring the buns back to life and releases all those warm spices.

Finish with a generous spread of butter and enjoy while warm.

Freezing for Later

If you’ve stocked up for Easter (we don’t blame you), Hot Cross Buns freeze very well.

Simply place them in the freezer in a sealed bag. When you’re ready to eat, thaw at room temperature or toast straight from frozen.

A Final Tip

Hot Cross Buns tend to disappear quickly once they’re on the kitchen bench. If you’re planning to save some for later… you might want to hide a few.

Freshly baked daily and available in store throughout Easter.
